Fear in a Flower
While waiting for the highly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises, here’s a snapshot from Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, starring Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. “To manipulate the fears in others, you must first master your own. Are you ready to begin ?” asked Liam Neeson. As far as we’re concerned, we’re hoping he’ll never end.
From Gotham to the Seven Kingdoms.
Batman encountered a future tyrant in Christopher Nolan’s first bat-movie. “It’s you, isn’t it ? Everyone’s been talking about you. The other kids won’t believe me”. Here’s Jack Gleeson, a cute and innocent little boy in awe of his new hero, aka Game of Thrones’ King Joffrey. Nothing then could let us foresee the monster he could become. Freaky.
“This message will self-destruct in five seconds. Good Luck, Ethan”.
Snapshot from JJ Abrams’ Mission Impossible III, starring the ever so unstoppable Tom Cruise. The best of the four MI movies, in my opinion, whether it be for the incredible action scenes or the very Abramesque cast.
Through the Doll House.
Snapshot from My Week with Marilyn, the mellow picture starring Michelle Williams as the magnetic and fragile Marilyn Monroe, who, in this scene, finds herself staring in wonder at beautiful Victorian dollhouse. The perfect life in miniature.
Thumb Up.
Snapshot from the very Dharma-Initiativy David 8 viral video for Prometheus, featuring the fantastic robotic Mister Fassbender, branded. More on the Weyland Industries website, here.

Television is a genius, crazy poem by the most treasured writer of every child who dwells in us, the great Roald Dahl. His books and extraordinary stories were an important part of my childhood, and like every kid my imagination thrived upon them. I very gladly post this ferocious and entertaining attack from a man in the right, and yet who would never have me forsake my dearest movies and TV box sets. Read it after the jump !

An iphone eye to remember mystical skies when darkness takes over…

Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott have done it again. They bewitched me with their rare, poetic and sometimes strange sense of beauty. Each one of their photography is a picturesque tableau, very closely studied, highly colored and oddly fascinating. Most recently, through their lense, Rooney Mara graces the cover of November’s Vogue US. Now, to me, that’s a fortunate encounter. I’ve been drawn to Rooney ever since I saw her in The Social Network. Her acting, her calmness, her control, the smoothness of her features which actually hide a lot of character and uniqueness. Since she’s been metamorphosed to become Lisbeth Salander, I find all her notable traits have been emphasized, making of her a statuesque, mesmerizing creature we just can’t take our eyes of. And Mert & Marcus captured that to perfection.
With this new Vogue issue, we’re definitely in for a double treat : for the first time since quite a while, the journalist definitely keeps up with the work of the photographers. I very much share Lainey’s opinion, who accurately pointed out how brilliant this article really is and the light it shines on the Mentor/Disciple, Creator/Creature relationship that David Fincher and Rooney Mara have developed. It’s hypnotic to read. We almost wish we could be on set, every day, to see that genius and his new protegée interact, evolve and make of this very expected trilogy the masterpiece we all already know it’s going to be.
In the article, Rooney Mara is often described as ‘eerie’ and a ‘chic ghoul’. Those words have never before carried such graceful mystery. They’ve also become the lastest trend to describe unconventional and fascinating features (see NY Mag’s article on Anton Yelchin). It seems people are tired of the regular beauty criteria and are becoming more and more attracted to singular, extraordinary type of physiques. And I dare say this makes me very, very happy. Farewell, old dictates and welcome to all the Rooneys and Antons of this world.
